Hacking pinball on Windows XP

Sunday, June 10th, 2007

A friend of ours just gave us this neat trick that you can use to bump up your score on Pinball (Windows XP only):

  1. Load pinball (Under Start Menu ==> Programs ==> Games)
  2. Type “hidden test” without the quotes
  3. Press R to increase your rank
  4. You can now move the ball around with your mouse
  5. Press H to enter yourself on the high score board with 1,000,000,000 points!

Microsoft should practice what they preach

Has anybody seen the advertisements on the television recently with the smarmy woman using the latest and greatest Microsoft technology and able to access all of her clients details on just ONE system?  We have too, so we were surprised when we received an e-mail from Microsoft informing us that a parcel that they had tried to deliver to us had been returned.  The parcel was actually part of our Microsoft Action Pack subscription which we receive on a regular basis.

So I contact the regional support centre to be greeted by a helpful guy and explained the problem.  He proceeded to tell me that although we had actually updated our address using the correct online form, the action pack delivery details exist on a separate system and therefore need to be updated manually.  Yes that’s right folks, a separate system, and not all one system…GITS!  I could hear his frenzied keyboard tapping as he knew I was on to him…

I pulled him up on it and he immediately became flustered and tried to make a joke out of the situation by asking if I’d rather cancel my subscription.  Good work pal!  Mess your client about and then give him the option to cancel his subscription!

I love Microsoft, I really do, but double standards are not allowed.  And don’t even get me started on the whole MVP legal action currently underway.
