Atlas Signs a Deal with the University of Essex!

Thursday, March 29th, 2007

It has been nearly two months since we last posted on our blog and apologies to anybody who takes the time out to check for Atlas Blogupdates.  We’ve been busy here at Atlas securing contracts with the likes of Business Help East Ltd. and the University of Essex to provide bespoke database applications that allow both companies to manage their clients more effectively than ever before.

University of EssexWorking on these projects has provided us with a real insight in to the workings of public sector bodies and how different they can be from their private counterparts.

What swung it for both of our clients is the way in which we are able to host their data seamlessly online, providing them with access to their data wherever an Internet connection is available.  This is in direct contrast to the systems currently in place at Business Help East in particular and they are looking forward to bringing both of these projects to a conclusion and reaping the rewards of this new technology.

We have moved!

Thursday, March 29th, 2007

So you wait for an age and then two blog posts come along at once!

We’re delighted to announce that we have moved offices to the brand new, and rather prestigious, University of Essex Business Incubation Centre located just off of Southend High Street.

The actual move took place a couple of weekends ago and went almostwithout a hitch.
As with any upheaval unfortunately there were casualties.  Simon managed to trap his finger in a cabinet door, our Exchange server decided that it didn’t want to start after the move, and two of our phones bit the dust.  However in the grand scheme of things none of these problems couldn’t be overcome and with a new e-mail server in place, a couple of new VoIP phones, and a plaster for Simon’s finger we’re up and running and over the moon with our new facilities.
We might sound overly excited, but first let us explain why.  We have access to some of the best business minds in the world when it comes to entrepreneurship.  The support staff at the BIC are second to none and nothing is too much bother for them, they take care of everything including post, phones and I.T.  We have access to other businesses all of whom are fairly young and looking to change the shape of the future.  Finally, we get to give something back to the community in the form of providing work experience to college and university students who may have the skills but lack the experience that is mandatory when they are looking for their first job.

We’re famous!

As part of the hoopla being made about the Business Incubation Centre and how great it is (and it really is!) Simon thought that it might be a good idea to give the local paper a call. Being the first business to move in to the BIC we had a good story and a bit of free PR never goes amiss.
So, apologies from Simon for the cheesy grin, however the article was rather nice and apparently we’re going to be in a double page spread on the 2nd April so keep a look out for that too!

Sorry about the grin!
